One Pinterest Project.....kinda complete :)

Here are some updated photos of my embroidery hoop pinterest project!!

I decided to paint the hoops gold for some added flair :)

Here is photos of the steps I used to make each fabric covered hoop!

The larger hoop fits over the smaller hoop that is beneath the fabric then you tighten down the top hoop

This photo shows the underside of the hoop

Trim excess fabric away then tuck fabric and hot glue to inner embroidery ring

Finished project photos:
One single hoop

Here is the line up that will surround our giant K on the wall!
Then on another wall this giant hoop bearing the primary pattern will be hung!

So all the hoops are ready to go!! Now we just need our giant K and will get all hung on the wall :)

In addition yesterday marked 24 weeks of pregnancy!!

Happy Monday!!

Pinterest Project....becoming a reality!

Today I embarked on the beginnings of my first pinterest project for baby girl's nursery!!
I have LOTS of ideas for our little girl's nursery and many are from pinterest of course!!
However by far one of my favorites is pictured below!!

I am planning to do something very similar to these fabric circles in the nursery!
You use embroidery hoops to stretch different patterned fabrics and display them on the wall :)

I LOVE this simple yet fun yet shabby chic look!
As some of you may have heard we are keeping baby girl's name a secret until she is here however we are disclosing that is starts with a K.

Tyler is planning to make a giant wooden K that we will paint a dusty pink and surround it with the fabric circles!! Instead of spelling out the entire name like in the photo.

So I set out on the first step!! Choosing all the fun fabrics :)
I spent....let just say a little while browsing Joann's Fabrics today picking out just the right ones!!
I plan to spray paint the embroidery hoops gold to add a little pa-zaz!

Here are photos of the fabrics I have selected!!
The potential crib bumper has pink/white polka dots on one side and pink/lime green paisley print on the other! So I chose fabrics that kinda pull all this together while still being eclectic!

Green Paisley

Brown and Pink Polka Dots

Pink Paisley

Brown Baby Chevron

Lime Green, Pink, and Orange Flowers along with Brown and White Polka Dots

This extra large hoop will have the same pattern as the one above but will be on a different wall!

I will post pictures when the project is finished, hung on the wall, surrounding the giant K!!

Happy Monday!!

Baby clothes are SO cute!!

So here we are!! Week 22!! Time has gone SO fast!! :)

Last weekend we did our first registry at Babies R Us!! We are VERY excited about all the wonderful items they had!!

However I had to do a little shopping while there....I mean baby clothes...especially baby GIRL clothes :)
To top it all off they were having a huge sale on their clearance items...it was buy one clearance item and get the second one for $1 DOLLAR!! So here are my finds!!

This newborn onesie was the only one I saw like it in the entire store... what is better for our Ward baby than a kitty wearing camo and a pink bow?!? This onesie paired with a pair of fleece hot pink pants and a pink beanie (with a bow attached of course) is a top contender for baby girls "going home outfit!"

In addition I found some baby socks and these two holiday themed finds!!

This next shirt is from the children's place and was a great deal as well!! She is already prepared for Oct 2014 :) This shirt reminded me of my Granny and I just couldn't pass it up when I laid eyes on it!

So far I have been pretty good and not gone overboard! I have been focusing on sales and items that may be out of stock next season like all these holiday items!!

Now to find the perfect Christmas Eve and Christmas Outfits!! So happy we get to spend Christmas as her first Holiday :)

New Camera!!

With the arrival of our baby girl getting closer I decided it was time to go on a camera hunt!!

I have wanted a nice (better than just a point and shoot...a DSLR style) camera for quite some time!

I had gathered a nice little savings from x-mas, birthday and working for my mom helping her manage her business in quickbooks etc.... I call this my CFO money...I am the chief financial officer of Suzanne's Auto Detailing :)

Anyway Tyler and I found the one we wanted...got the stamp of approval on quality and price from my best friend Amanda who happens to be a pro photographer! So while on a trip to Topeka to register at Babies R Us we stopped in at Wolfe's camera shop and purchased this beauty:

A Nikon D3100
14.2 megapixels with an auto stabilizing 18 to 55mm Lens

It is extremely user friendly and gets great shots!!
I can't wait till our little girl is here so we can capture all of her firsts!!

Here are a few shots that Tyler and I have taken while playing around and practicing :)

Gypsy Girl has been our most popular subject!

As well as our parents pets....
Mr. Knuckles my parents French Bulldog

Tyler's parents cat Frosty

However one of the best things we have captured so far are the next images:

Okay so the photos themselves aren't exactly great...but the story that goes along with them is!!

My parents cleaned out one of their closets this past weekend and while looking through some old items they found this shirt that was my mothers in high school!

Yes that is a dot matrix photo of my father screened onto a t-shirt with the inscription below
 "My Guy."
My Mom said she took the shirt out of the box held it up to my little bro and could not believe how much he looks like my Dad at the same age!! Now we have known for a while that my bro looks JUST like my Dad did at the same age however seeing it in this top/bottom comparison was HILARIOUS!!

When I went over to my parents to show off my new camera my little bro just so happen to put the shirt on and I had to capture the moment!! My Mom and I probably laughed for 5 minutes straight :)

Like father like son....literally :)

Have a fabulous Tuesday!! ~Monica

Backyard Overhaul!!

To prepare for our baby gender reveal party we had to get our back yard into tip top shape!!

Hence our backyard overhaul!! Here are some exclusive before and after photos :)

Before

After

You can see our newly constructed privacy fence in the distance
As well as the patio blocks Tyler laid to bridge the gap between our concrete patio and the house where the tiki bar now sits....Gypsy LOVES the new back yard!
Our new tiki bar

Here are some additional comparison photos:

Remember this old bench project from months ago?...
After

As you could see in an earlier photo this potting bench was left behind by the previous owners

So I had the grand idea to turn it into a fun tiki bar :)
Tyler pressure washed it up, we replaced the sink, bought a sign on sale at hobby lobby and thanks to my MIL LuAnn for giving me some of the décor from our wedding rehearsal dinner to accent the green and orange color scheme.

New stainless steel sink...we use it as an ice bucket to hold water or beer bottles!!

Cast iron bottle opener purchase at Menards!

We have had these Adirondack chairs for YEARS and I mean years like well 5 at least!!
They finally got the coat of paint they deserved :)

I leave you with a close up of one of my gnomes who found home in the new backyard.

HAPPY MONDAY!!
